Empfohlene Rebsorte im Douro-Tal, Valpaços, Dão und Varosa (Wein und Sekt). Eine der edelsten Sorten, kommt sowohl im Rot- als auch im Portwein vor; tief rot-schwarz-violette Farbe; in Spanien „Tempranillo“ im portugiesischem Alentejo „Aragonez“ genannt; es ist nicht klar, ob sie ursprünglich aus Portugal oder Spanien stammt.
