Im September 2017 stellt »James Suckling« erneut die Niepoort'schen Weine und Ports aus dem D.O.C. Douro unter Probe. Über den CHARME 2014, den er mit 96/100 Punkten herausragend bewertet, schreibt er nachfolgend im Original:
„This is one of the best reds of Portugal with fabulouis elegance and length yet an intensity and depth that is so exciting. Medium body, ultra-fine tannins and a finish that goes on for minutes. Plum, berry and light stem character. The whole berry and foot trodden production gives this wine a real uniqueness. Drink or hold.”
