Bairrada, erzeugt von Niepoort auf der
Quinta de Baixo, schreibt er nachfolgend im Original:
„The 2015 Lagar de Baixo is a Baga that may represent Niepoort's best bargain this issue. It was aged in well-used 2.000-liter fuders for 20 months and comes in at 11.5% alcohol. This is spectacular enough this issue that the price point seems almost laughable, if, of course, you like dry reds with acidity, low alcohol, flavor, the ability to age, fine precision and perfect focus. (If you're looking for fat, dense and sweet, look elsewhere.) It rivals its sibling, the Gonçalves Faria Tinto, in flavor but seems to have better structure. The serious backbone doesn't seem like mid-level wine, and the finish is very long. It's not just about austerity and power, though. I believe I mentioned flavor. The fine, lifted flavors on the finish let this end in waves of raspberries. It is very aromatic, too. This fruity Baga is unusual in that it is indeed fruity (not exactly what the region is known for) yet hard-edged and crisp ...”
