In der Juni-Ausgabe 2017 des renommierten »The Wine Advocate« haben die Weine von Niepoort wieder hohe Bewertungen erhalten. So hat Niepoorts 2016er DÓCIL LOUREIRO BRANCO satte 91/100 Punkten von Verkoster Mark Squires erhalten. Über den rebsortenreinen Loureiro aus dem Vinho Verde, schreibt er nachfolgend im Original:

„The 2016 Dócil is a Loureiro, unoaked and coming in at 11% alcohol. More surprisingly, it has 4,9 grams per liter of residual sugar, a bit elevated for a ery dry style - and this tastes quite dry, easily soaking up and obliterating the sugar. (Of course, this is a serious table wine - no fizz). This year, said Dirk Niepoort to me, may be even better than the 2015. He may be right. (Or, maybe I underrated the 2015.) In any event, this is pretty terrific, tightly wound and very focused, with laser-like precision. Very concentrated for this lighter-styled grape, this should age nicely, too, since the structure and concentrationare in perfect balance, but don't hesitate to drink it young. Its freshness makes it very enticing just now. There were 30.000 bottles produced, vinified at Soalheiro, the famous Alvarinho giant.”
