And it's alive in the glass, a wine with presence that develops over the course of hours, or days, as it will develop in the cellar for years. The schist of the soil is immediately appparent in the aroma, which then slowly reveals scents of rose, of raspberries and mace. And monolithic as it may be from the first taste, a wine with the tremendous grip the Douro can grow into grape skins, it remains mouthwatering through a long-lasting flavor of the soil. It's an open view to the schist, warmend by the sun, absorbed iinto the powerful essence of the grapes. A signature wine of Dirk Niepoort: remarkable and absurdly rare.
