In der August-Ausgabe des renommierten »
The Wine Advocate« haben die Weine von
Niepoort wieder hohe Bewertungen erhalten. So hat Niepoorts 2011er ›
Vertente Tinto‹ stolze 91/100 Punkten von Verkoster Mark Squires erhalten. Über die
Cuvée aus dem
Douro, erzeugt u. a. aus den Rebsorten
Tinta Amarela,
Touriga Franca und
Tinta Roriz schreibt er nachfolgend im Original:
„The 2011 Vertente is Niepoort’s typical blend (from 25-year-old-vines at Napoles and old-vines elsewhere, emphasizing Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca). It was aged for 18 months in French oak, only 15% new. It is a beauty this year, perhaps the best yet. Beautifully structured, it is expressive, with fine and open fruit at its core. It is also quite concentrated for this bottling, plus nicely focused and tightly wound. It is an impressive performance that offers terrific value in this lineup. It is likely to become ever more complex with age, too.”
