Dirk van der Niepoort. Sein ›
Batuta Tinto 2009‹ wurde dort mit außergewöhnlichen 95/100 Punkten bewertet. Über den Wein aus der
D.O.C. Douro schreibt der Autor nachfolgend im Original:
„Niepoort purchased two quintas in the late 1980, Nápoles and Carril, in the Tedo Valley, a tributary on the south bank of the Douro. The old vines at Carril have a northern exposure; they provide the basis of this blend, with contributions from nearby quintas with centenarian vines. Made at the new vinification center at Nápoles, this vintage of Batuta is nothing less than awesome. Think of the fat of a duck, the sheen on the lacquer of the skin of Peking duck and a wine that would riff off of it with the same satin texture and crisp edge, with flavors of clover and schist, blackberries and fresh strawberries and red currants. This is extremely long and dangerously close to the perfect preservation of old-vine Douro insanity.”
