„The 2010 DOCIL is all Loureiro (the brand was formerly called Girasol). It clocks in at 11% alcohol. Fruity, yet with an underlying laser burst of acidity, it is a lovely Loureiro, surprisingly piercing and powerful, yet ultimately graceful and delicious. Utterly transparent, it is simply delightful, hard to resist. A British phrase is "more-ish." That is, the ultimate test is the empty bottle. Everyone who tastes it will say "Can I have more?" It is probably my favorite white from Niepoort this issue. It may hold longer, but I'd recommend drinking this early for best results. There were 26,000 bottles produced. Drink now-2013.

Niepoort's output, largely from old vines and high altitude, always has a certain refinement and elegance in common, even in the biggest vintages. It is an interesting aspect of this warm weather wine region. In 2009, a big vintage for most of the rest of the region, the reds seem generally restrained and quite crisp, a little eccentric compared to the typical Douro output in this year. Normally, I feel Niepoort does extremely well in the bigger vintages. This year, I am less sure.”
