„The ›2005 Loios‹ is a decent deal for the price, already ready to drink, smooth and soft, grapy and tasty. The fruit, if anything, is a little too sweet and grapy. The oak rounds off the texture and provides some of the flavor nuances. A bit formless and simple, ready for drinking already, but look at the price - it is fair for the money, a nice house wine at a basic restaurant. It will be a pleasant, early maturing wine. For best results, obtain it fresh and young, the fresher the better. This is a blend of Trincadeira, Aragones and other local grape varieties. Drink now-2009.

Ramos is one of the best known names in Southern Portugal, making wines under a variety of labels and in several regions. His labels include the familiar Marquês de Borba, as well as Vila Santa. His company also owns Falua in Ribatejo. For convenience, all our grouped here, since they are all Ramos-owned operations. Ramos is also the winemaker at his father-in-law's estate (separately listed), Quinta de Foz de Arouce. Oh, and just a pet peeve - between Borba, Vila Santa and Falua, Ramos seems to delight in making the vintage dates tiny and/or indistinct. Bring a magnifying glass.”
